DaySmart Pet (formerly 123Pet Software) has three published tiers: Basic ($29/mo, single user), Deluxe ($69/mo, up to 3 users), and Deluxe Growth ($149/mo, which adds two-way texting, text marketing, and reputation management). Daycare and boarding calendars are optional add-ons at about $25/mo each. Groomers who want automated client texting usually need the $149/mo top tier — a feature GroomBoard includes on every plan. First, tier-creep: the Basic plan leaves out two-way texting and the full communication suite, so groomers who want client texting end up climbing to the $149/mo Deluxe Growth tier for features GroomBoard includes by default. Second, simplicity: DaySmart Pet bundles many tools (payroll, inventory, marketing automation) that solo groomers and small salons rarely use but pay for anyway. GroomBoard does fewer things, but does the things groomers actually need every day.

If you rely heavily on DaySmart Pet add-ons like Reputation Management ($49/mo), Website Builder ($15/mo), or QuickBooks integration, those are not in GroomBoard yet. For most solo and small-salon groomers, the core feature set is more than enough.

For software, yes. Stripe charges its standard processing fee on payments (2.9% + 30¢) and Twilio charges pass-through SMS rates (about $0.01 per outbound message). GroomBoard does not add anything on top. There are no setup fees, no add-on subscriptions, and no per-user charges below the 5-groomer Salon cap.
