Wahl sells more dog clippers than any other brand, and it sells them under two names that do very different jobs. Pro Animal is the professional line: the Bravura family on an adjustable 5 in 1 blade, and the KM machines on standard A5 detachable blades. Wahl USA is the home line, kits with a fixed blade and plastic combs. The Bravura alone sent more than a hundred readers a month from this site to Amazon, so this page puts the whole current range in one place, says what replaced the KM10, and picks for a salon, a van and a kitchen table.
Our picks are research based. We compared the manufacturer's published specifications and the listings for each model, and we grouped them by the work they are built for. We do not claim side by side bench testing. The Andis range gets the same treatment in Andis dog clippers compared.
At a glance
Two families, two blade systems
The Bravura family (Bravura, Bravura 2, the Arco, the Thick and Curly Coat clipper) runs an adjustable 5 in 1 blade: one blade, five short lengths by sliding a lever, and Wahl’s stainless 5 in 1 comb set for every longer length. Light, quiet, and the right tool for faces, feet and small or medium bodies. It bogs down in a dense doodle coat.
The KM family (KM Velocity, KM Supera, KM Inspire, and the discontinued KM10 and KM Cordless) takes the standard A5 detachable blade that Andis and Oster use, so blade numbers mean the same thing on every machine in a salon. These are the clippers for a full body clip on anything, including a felted coat. Our blade guide explains the sizes.
Our Top Picks
Best Wahl clipper for most owners, and the salon tool for faces and feet
Wahl Bravura Lithium Ion, Best Overall
The cordless clipper working groomers reach for on faces, feet and trim work, and the single best crossover into home use. Light, notably quiet, about 90 minutes of battery, and an adjustable 5 in 1 blade that covers five lengths without a blade change. With the stainless comb set it does every length in a breed haircut guide on a small or medium coat. It is not the machine for a dense doodle body.

Wahl Bravura 2, The Bravura With a Second Speed
Wahl’s 2025 update of the Bravura: a two speed cordless on the same 5 in 1 blade system, with a diamond like carbon coated blade that Wahl says stays cooler and sharper. The slow speed is for nervous dogs and faces; the combs are the same ones. It costs more than the original, which remains the proven tool, so the 2 is for a groomer who wanted the speed control.

Wahl KM Velocity, Best Corded for Salons
The current corded workhorse of the Pro Animal line and the natural successor to the KM10: a detachable blade machine with Wahl’s LOCKGUARD blade latch and a no slip grip built for a full day. It takes every standard A5 blade. Corded, and more clipper than a home groomer with one small dog needs.

Wahl KM Supera, Best Cordless With Detachable Blades
The cordless sibling of the Velocity: a quiet, low vibration detachable blade clipper that Wahl rates at about 240 minutes of runtime, which is a full day of grooms without a cord. It takes standard A5 blades, so it clips what the corded machines clip. It is the most expensive clipper on this page, and a salon with a fixed table gets the same cut from the Velocity for less.

Wahl KM Inspire, Best for the Thickest Coats
A two speed brushless motor that runs cool through heavy coat and does not slow when the blade packs, on standard A5 blades. It is the clipper groomers reach for on the dog that has gone four months. It was out of stock on Amazon when we checked at the end of October; the Velocity is the current corded alternative.

Wahl Thick and Curly Coat Clipper, Best Corded 5 in 1
A lightweight two speed corded clipper on the 5 in 1 blade, built for the thick and curly coats the cordless Bravura struggles with: the cord means the motor never fades and the blade never waits for a charge. It uses the same stainless comb set as the Bravura. For a true full body clip on a dense adult doodle, a KM machine on detachable blades is still the better tool.

Wahl Deluxe Pro Series Cordless Kit, Best Home Starter Kit
The Wahl USA kit that comes up in every home grooming thread: a cordless clipper with self sharpening blades, about two hours of runtime, and a full set of plastic combs, scissors and a case. Model 9591-2100. It is a home kit with a fixed blade, so it does light and medium coats well and dense or matted coat badly; when the dog outgrows it, the Bravura is the next step.

Wahl Fidela, The Finishing Trimmer
Not a clipper but the tool that finishes what the clipper started: a cordless trimmer with a contour blade that cuts very close, for the hair between the pads and around the eyes. Most salons run one beside the big machine; our paw trimmer guide compares it with the Andis Emerge Trim.
Check price on Amazon →Which Wahl clipper should you buy?
- An owner with a small or medium dog: Bravura Lithium Ion with the stainless comb set, or the Deluxe Pro Series kit if the budget is the deciding factor.
- An owner with a doodle: the Thick and Curly Coat clipper for tidy ups and a puppy cut; a KM Velocity for a full body clip on a dense adult coat. Our thick coat clipper guide explains the difference.
- A salon table: KM Velocity, with a Bravura or Fidela beside it for faces and feet.
- A mobile van, or a groomer who hates the cord: KM Supera.
- The dog that has gone four months: KM Inspire if it is in stock, otherwise the Velocity.
What happened to the KM10 and the Arco
The KM10 was Wahl’s two speed corded clipper for a decade and the one most groomers still search for. It is discontinued. The KM Inspire replaced it as the heavy coat machine, and the KM Velocity and KM Supera are the current corded and cordless Pro Animal clippers; every one of them takes the KM10’s blades. The Arco, the Bravura’s lighter cousin on removable batteries, still lists on Amazon but was out of stock when we checked, and the Bravura does its job.
